Am doing some research on the Soviet Ilyushin Il-10 attack aircraft. Would someone know where any are located? Museums, private hands, etc.

I believe John MacGuire recovered quite a few of them a couple of decades ago and placed them in storage at his War Eagles Air Museum in El Paso, TX. John has passed on now, but I'd imagine the Il-10's are still there. I don't recall hearing any news of their being moved since that time.

The aircraft we have at Wareagles is a TU2 that is restored but not flyiable and there is several more tht are disassembled and stored off location.

I've seen at least 6 in China either on display, in restored condition or in various states of disrepair. Via satellite, some are no longer where they were, so those could have been either scrapped or moved elsewhere. Too bad they have no real value and the engines are nearly extinct, they are an interesting aircraft.

What is your specific research question?

When I did some volunteer work for the Collings Foundation some years ago they were looking in to the possibility of having Ilyushin build up some Ilyushin 2s. They were actually negotiating but they couldn't get the Russians to understand that they really didn't need to build a complete example that would be tested to destruction. The Russians couldn't quite grasp the concept of Experimental Exhibition category. And eventually Collings passed. Which was odd given that the new build Yaks were on going then. The USAF had an Il 10 captured in Korea (and a Yak 9) for many years but they were scrapped AFTER going the Air Force Museum.
