Has anyone heard anything further about the status of the Memphis Belle? Is she staying in Memphis or going to Dayton? The website hasnt been updated in awhile.

Picked up an Air Classics on the shelf at the store.
It says that the Memphis Belle is going to Dayton.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(that's my opinion anyway)
(I've always wanted to go to mud island and see her)

I would think that after restoration, the AFM would be looking to place the Memphis Belle or the B17 that they already have on display. They don't seem to have multiple examples of aircraft on display.

Wolverine:

The Belle isn't at Mud Island any longer. She's in pieces in a hangar at the former NAS Memphis airport in Millington. I saw her in November, and they were making some slow but steady progress on her restoration.

The Swoose sure would look good at Dayton. Rob, has the NASM ever sold anything like that before? I know the Pardue Bearcat came from there as part of a trade for Conquest 1.

The EAA's XP-51A was originally a NASM bird. I forget what they traded for it... think it was a Northrop Delta.
