Very cool......moving on.

One of these days, I'll post some of my pictures of Yanks that I've taken. I have pictures of their collection at various times from about 1983 up until present. Unfortunately, the pictures are in storage at my Parents' place. When ever I find them, I'll post them here. I have some real cool stuff!

I last visited there in 1999 before I moved here to work on Warbirds

My years of hanging around there were 1988 to 1993 and sporadic visits since. It was nice to see the P-51A come together during those years, and some other stuff.

I too am a fan of the collection but not really of the wine country move which I doubt will ever really happen. When something like this is really economically viable, it attracts investors and local support and gets done in 5 years, not 20+.

Back in the 80s I remember seeing a depiction of the facility with a runway so they could be operated.
Stan told me then that they didn't fly their stuff as he didn't have the manpower to do the restoration stuff and also maintain many A/C in flyable condition. He stated that once an A/C was moved from his restoration shop and was flown to the museum up there where the staff at the museum was to maintain the collection.
It always sounded like a great plan.
As for collections there are several that are rarely seen by regular folk. Although this collection will be presented as such if everything is paid for and no loans exist it will go a long ways toward keeping operating expenses low. Particularly since the expenses of operation are not required.
There is a fair amount of tourism in the wine country. Maybe this will work for them. I hope it does. They have done an great job of collecting stuff over the years.

Chicks Dig Warbirds.......right?

They do fly some of the aircraft on occasion such as the Lockheed and the Staggerwing. I hear the BT-13 may begin flying again soon.
