Believe it or not the last time I saw Dick was at the Cape May Races in 71. He had a Mustang there but not this one I believe, at least I don't remember this one as being that airplane.

Just as an aside, don't know if you might know this, but Dick got a real kick out of the name TOKEFOGO. He said it meant "to keep fogies from growing old".
:-))

It was the first Mustang I ever saw fly!
Meriden, CT airshow, 1974. It was so cool seeing it zip by!
There was a T-28 and a T-6 there too.
It was with North American Flyers at the time and I believe it was a group of several pilots who bought it as a club type aircraft. i'm not sure, but I think Pete Vanderslius, and some of the others who were later members of the Six of Diamonds were in on it.
I remember the newspaper article about the crash too. Very sad.

The photos looks like it was taken at Danbury Airport. Not sure of the year though.

I've got a picture somewhere of this Mustang in civilian paint. I'll have to scan it in and post. My dad took the photo at Cape May in 1971.
