Ya know Jack. I sure do miss Carl. He was truly a great guy. His collection is where my airplane came from.

Methinks Crash is getting airborne in his T-28..check the flap - certainly not landing configuration...

I agree Brad,
Carl was a great guy and a pleasure to both fly with and be around in general. I sure miss Texan Flight with all those guys. Jeff, Lars, Ken, Carl, Craig and Uncle Bob Irvine. Do you have a list of Carl collection of planes and know where they ended up?? He must of had 25-30.
O.D. I'm fairly sure it was landing has I was at the end of the runway. If not that's one remarkable T-28!!! Here's a couple more.....

I don't have a list of Carl's planes. But if I did, that list would be long and distinguished! I do know that after he died, his family recieved several calls from people wanting to know what to do with his airplanes. He apparantly had them scattered all over the country and nobody is really sure how many he actually owned.

Not too many people knew he had my airplane until they started pulling all the others out of the hanger and found mine in the back under a tarp!

Gotta get on the plane. See ya in two weeks or so.

I sure like the "patina" look on that T-28. Looks like a real warhorse!

Crash's T-28B was very well maintained and he loved the downtrodden look it had. He wanted people to be able put their hands on it. He touched it up with Sears house paint and a wisk broom!!!

i was about to say the same thing Rob, but you beat me to it... that T-28 looks terrific with the weathered look... wish more warbirds were as dowdy, it makes them somehow more real, and tangible. While I know that it is convenient for cleaning, gloss paint really irritates me (with exceptions, I guess, for authenticity in the cases where gloss was the in-service paint of choice).

I too am a nut for the "tired" look. When they had the Mustang gathering in Kissemme. There was one and it looked tired, it was dirty and the wheel wells were all covered in grease and oil. I told my father that this is the best mustang here!!!! He said "why is that". I told him cause it was being flown!!! Its great to see so many mustangs being saved, but when you see the ones like kermits and others. There better than factory so it was nice to see one.........well to some that is not so nice. The guy probably is not a million aire........but maybe just a working guy like me. But he saves enough money each week to put some gas in her and punch some holes in the clouds.
