Been a NY Rangers fan all my life! I used to go to the Binghamton Rangers(farm team) games all the time when I was young with my dad. I loved it...and a time I remember some players still not wearing helmets!

I am 22. I gotta say hockey isn't what it used to be though.

Rangers didn't do too bad last year.
someone once asked a hockey player what was his favorite toppings on a pizza were. The hockey player replied: "hockey pucks"!

Used to be a HUGE hockey fan, 25-year goalie (played a bunch with Brian Mullen and Garry Howatt after their NHL careers). I miss playing (groin problems limit me to an occasional pond game now, instead of 1 or 2 mens league games a week), and I miss my love of the NHL.
Bettman is the lowest form of scum in the world, to me. Destroyed a great sport with stupid expansion and moving south.

PS- I used to go up to New Haven Nighthawks games, while my back-up goalie Doug used to always go up to New Haven. I still go up to a Sabres game a year in Buffalo. Loved Hasek!

Saw my first hockey game (NY Rangers) in the early 40's at the old garden. Not only no helmets, but no masks and also no Zamboni's. Stayed a Ranger fan till 1982 when I became a NJ Devil Season Ticket holder for 18 years as I lived in Monmouth County NJ. Moved to Ohio 2 years ago and still follow hockey via the net and on TV either thru Versus or the Blue Jackets on FS Ohio.
In spite of some changes, it still is a great game and especially in person.
How about this ... saw my first Rutgers Football game in '48 and after 60 years, still a Rutgers fan here in Buckeye land.
Starting to sell of much of my old hockey cards and other memorabilia on ebay.

I love hockey too.
I always wished I could have played in the NHL, but I never played when I was younger because of the cost of doing so.... and it didn't help that my growing stopped at 5'6".
Regardless of that I still love the sport. I'd say it's the most exciting game to watch and the best to play. The elements of skill, teamwork, and endurance play such a huge part in the sport.
When I was going to flying school we had so many people that used to play hockey going to the school that we organized playing stick and puck hockey every saturday night at midnight. We had so much fun that the following year we got enough guys together to create a team to play in the B division. We were probably dead last, but we had a ton of fun. I was either worst or second worst player on the team but ended up getting 8 goals on the season.
Oh and I'm a Canucks fan.... despite their lack of productivity when it came to stanley cup victories.
Good thread.

I'm a hockey fan.
My cousin played for Pittsburg, Hartford and Los Angeles in the NHL. I will say that hockey players are some of the finest athletes and people. I watch the attitude and conduct of many of the NBA, NFL and MLB players and am disgusted.
I'll hang out with hockey players anyday.

Yep, Red Wings fan, born and raised. I met Steve Yzerman when he came to my school once in Kindergarten. After that, there was no other player or team

Other than that, we have a college hockey team here at WMU, unfortunately they're never very good. We did play Michigan State to a shootout last weekend though.
