Juke,
Would you please use another header in your messages. I though a Mustang had crashed in Germany during an airshow display.
Cheers

Cees,
I second that motion. We all hate crashes around here with so many pilots on the board...
Juke,
At any rate, the book Mustang At War by Roger Freeman has that picture with the captioning that the plane was from the 22nd Tac. Recon. Sqn. at Bad Abling, Germany in full view of the POW compound in the background. Apparently the pilot caught the BF-109 wreck with his right wingtip and ended up in the pictured cartwheel. The book says the pilot survived with a few minor cuts and bruises! I imagine he was pretty grateful.

Full round of applause from the POW's, I imagine.

That is right Dan,
People behind the wires are POWs.
Thanks Ryan.

Any chance they decided to remove the "large wrecked object" from the edge of the runway after that?
I'm sure the next guy trying to take off really had a job on his hands trying to maneuver around TWO wrecked hulks.

Are you sure it wasn't shot up, and crashing behind enemy lines?

Good question Harvard..you might pose your speculation to the books
author?
Sigghh...another 2-holer P-51 "bites the dust"..another P-51 not
available for Mudge, or others of us desiring a "thumb-ride" in a warbird!
I hate rainy days...

Yes, if I had time I would, but too busy with vital stuff.

That's bordering on hilarious... the 109 scores a victory with no pilot!

Glad to hear the 'Stang pilot got off lightly for his indiscretion.
