Rich great shots! How do you convert slide to digital? I have tons of aircraft slide and would like to convert them!

In short, Scan the slide with Nikon Coolscan V (about 1 minute per slide), output a high-res JPEG (4th highest of 5 settings gives me a 5782 x 3962 JPEG image), then run it through "Noiseware 4 Pro" to remove the grain, resize to anything from 4000 pixels down to 800 like these depending on whether I'll print or not.

I'm no pro with this stuff, just kind of figured it out on my own this year. Results have been pretty decent. High contrast stuff like the Hurricane have given me some trouble.

I think this B-25 here is N86427 - anyone? anyone?

Dave Tallichet's N9115Z "Toujour au Danger" which had been at the Yesterday's Air Force facility in Tampa, FL. Now in the RAF museum in the UK. This is the aircraft in which the late John "Jeff" Hawke later lost the top turret during a flight.

The " Tojours Au Danger is the motto of the 17th Bomb Group. The markings depict a 37th BS aircraft. They were the most experienced B-25 operators at the beginning of WWII. They transferred from Oregon to Barksdale where they transitioned to B-26s. They call themselves the "Daddy of Them All " due to the fact that they became the core training group that was split off into so many different squadrons until they were deployed to N. Africa.

The Sikorski is the Howard Hughes example, currentl resding at Brazoria County Airport, Angleton, TX.

If you are scanning slides in large amounts or slides only, it's smart to get a dedicated slide scanner, rather than using a flatbed hybrid. There's lots of good advice out there, and the quality's improving all the time while prices come down.

No-one seems to have figured out how to do decent quality batches at high speed, cheaply though!
