Ryan is correct..the C and D were basically the same airplane, built at different factories. Some late C/Ds had waist and tail gun positions, but I believe these were installed at the depot level. The Yankee Air Museum B-25D has the waist bay-windows, but they're not staggered like the H/J. I've never been able to find out if they were factory installed or a later retrofit..she also doesn't have a tail gunner's station.

Whichever variant the aircraft at Pampa is, she needs to get in out of the weather!

Anybody have any current information as to the disposition of this aircraft?

Scott,

I believe it is still in Pampa on loan from the NMMC at Quantico. In an email exchange with their aviation curator a few months ago I made mention of the aircraft and how nice it would be to see it on display at NMMC, properly restored to represent a PBJ but, his reply held out little hope for that in the near future.

I have pictures of RAAF B-25D's with tail turrets and side guns...

PM me with your email and I'll send so you can post. No 2 Sqn RAAF flew them here vs. the bad guys in concert with Dutch B-25's of No 18 Sqn RAAF...

Maybe the plane could be moved to another museum that has the resources to properly restore and display her?
