It looks looks to be fake, because the frames appear to be speeding up during the shock wave event, and going back to normal speed after the event. It looks like somebody actually photographed parts of it, and then spliced in lot of frames.

That sequence shown on the website is a dumbed-down version of a full-resolution, full motion video of the flyby.

I don't think it's a "supersonic" flyby...just a really low, fast, and loud flyby.

Yikes! That was not what I meant. Now you're putting me on the defensive.

I was just kidding, actually. But, hey, anytime I can start defensive, then neutralize my opponent, then go offensive...well, that's a good day in my book! :)

Dru Blair has done a number of these types of paintings. I have this one on my living room wall, which I got probably around ten years ago.

I've seen this movie before - I believe it is real -just slowed down for the viewer as the 'Cat passes by.

I wish I could remember the name of the site - speedfreaks or soemething like that - they had 2 or 3 videos of F-14s and F-18s breaking the numbers. One was a F-14 passing between a carrier and another ship - a Navy aquaintance said that the pilot caught holy hell for it too.

Anyway - here is a nice site with lots of links: http://www.wilk4.com/misc/soundbreak.htm
