Pine Mountain Lake, Saturday, Awesome!

Dan Dugan invited me to go to Pine Mountain Lake for a T28 Trojan to lunch meet. It was a great flight over, some weather, but it was cool because we went low over Altamont and I got a close view of all of the windmills. We were in formation with Ron Rich and I had my video camera and got a lot of great footage. We got there and Evan and Allan were there. We had lunch and met some very cool people. We went to a museum that our hosts own/live in. Very, Very cool. Mannnnn, I want that when I grow up. They had some beautiful planes including a Lockheed and the finest 195 I've ever seen. They also had a large collection of airline memorabilia and tugs. We also met another very cool guy while we were there and had a good time talking to him also. I let you guys guess from the pictures. I'd like to say thanks to everyone for having me over again!

I see you met Kent and Sandy Blankenburg, they are a couple of really nice people. It would appear that they have added a C-195 to their stable recently, I haven't seen that one before. Maybe they'll bring it to the Watsonville show in May. Was the Luscombe Phantom in the hangar, I didn't see it in the background?............

Thanks for shraing, we can never have too many photos of the T-28. You are quite lucky to have so many around, in a good year I see 2, maybe 3 different T-28s, I guess I need to get to Oshkosh more.

I saw it and looked it for a long time. Very pristine airplane. What I thought was cool is that it had NARCO electronics in it from the stone age. The plane is immaculate, annnndddd, sorry Roger, no pics. Next time I'm out and about, I'll remember to think about someone else besides me. The second I read your question, I went oh sugar. On the bright side though, I think she said they were taking it to Osh Kosh this year. They were both incredibly nice to me, and I had a great time. Did you figure out who the other person is I was talking about. Hint=Learjet picture.

Thanks Sir! It is the mothball fleet. Coming back from Napa.

Looking down on them from 5000' or so, gets ya thinking. They're so darn tiny. Can you imagine trying to line up on one of them while they're firing at you? Tough to say the least. Looks like a suicide mission. Those WWII cats did that kinda stuff everyday.

You are correct Sir! I tried to get a good picture of him but some dufus in an A's hat was standing there.

It was very cool to talk to him. Everyone knew him and he knew everyone, or their friends. He has done just about every airplane thing thinkable. Out of all of the things to talk to him about, we talked about very high altitude stuff, depressurization at 50k+ feet, O2 masks, times, ect. I learned more in one hour talking to him and listening to him and Dan and Evan talk, than most pilots,,well, than most pilots will learn in a very long time. Maybe next time we can talk about P51's and racing, or they'll talk and I'll listen.

For the correct answer, I got a couple of lineup pics too. And a couple of the usual cast of characters.

Here's a closer view for you. Back in 1998, my friend Jerry Anderson wanted some pictures of the Mothball Fleet, so we took the side window out of the Beech C-45 that he was flying at the time, and took a flight over to the fleet, circling it at a fairly low altitude. This picture is missing a row of ships, as I wanted to show the light carriers USS New Orleans LPH-11 and USS Okinawa LPH-3 in it. Staying on the aviation theme here, we then flew over Mare island and photographed the carriers USS Oriskany and USS Tripoli(being gutted).
