This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Well, of course. Who else is going to think of weird ideas? That's the whole point of getting a Ph.D., to be a weird idea thinker upper. They have coursework in it, and the final exam is a killer. But don't sell the amateurs short. "Aviation archaeology" is a weird idea, and I don't think it was thought up by Ph.D.s. Perhaps by Ph.D. wannabes.

The point being, that these weird ideas and the powers that be are magnifying the problem.

What I find interesting is that as soon as old military aircraft stated to become worth real money the state of Alaska stepped in and made it illegal to recover wrecks on the basis of their 'historical significance'.

Yeah right. All this discussion of the Feds and wreck czars is fine and dandy but if any state can pass any law they want it is pretty much a moot point, the NHC not withstanding.

It is the same old story......follow the money.

You've got the state feds, and the reg feds. Both are non-functional.

So do you prefer the NHC to Kermit Weeks, or Doug Champlin, etc.?
no!!

Reminds me of the Cessna 182 that crashed in a Warsaw graveyard, they recovered 1,348 bodies..

Another point of total agreement!

You know, I am beginning to wonder if A2C actually sits down before he posts and writes a list of things to be insulting about each day, kind of like Howard Stern does. You know, you can't be entertaining unless you've pissed at least 3/4 of the people in the room off.

Consider the source and ignor it. Has worked for me for decades 8)

With all this talk of 'Aviation Archeology' and wreck finding, I can't help but think how prophetic this verse is from a song that must've been sung at air bases across the UK dozens of times by American airmen all those years ago.

"In five thousand years they'll be digging for gold,
in a field near the city of Wyck.
..........................................................

They'll find our Flying Fortress,
all covered in horse $hit.

Eager Beaver's still holding his stick!

Bless 'em all.......Bless 'em all..........The long and the short and the tall................."
