I just started an S-Corp/LLC business. So far I've done pretty good this year in spite of slow-down. Anyone else care to tell everybody about their own business?

Mine is a bit different, I teach people how to do their own repairs on their homes, cars, trucks, motorcycles and even airplanes. I have the know how and tools, and I go to them and teach them as they do their repairs.
Check out my web site

I am starting a business of doing videos and photography for air museums, fire dept, and such. I have already got a bunch of customers on a waiting list. I never knew a dumb hobby could turn into a business.

We do embroidery, engraving and personalization like photo mugs, mouse pads, can coolers and many other items.
Right now we have over 20 items on ebay (over 1,000 positive feedbacks) including some embroidered warbird hats.

Congrats! That's so cool.
I've always wanted to start a business, but I don't what type or what to do. Plus you need money, which I don't have.
Any tips on starting your own business? Or where to begin the process? Just wondering.
Thanks.

Hello David:
I started mine by accident. A couple of colleagues suggested the idea, because they do it, and needed my help. So I tried it, and it did surprisingly well. The big kicker is you have to change your outlook alot (when you first start, you have to be extremely optimistic), and be have some courage to charge about 2 or 3 times more than you might first expect. After that it gets pretty easy.

Find what you are good at, what you can do, and expand from there.
As far as the money end of it, the greatest cost is your overhead, ie tools, equipment and you can spend as much as you want there, but I am cheap and most of what I needed I all ready had, and whatI didn't have, I scrounged.
Web sites are good, but don't make that your only source of advertising, know your target, and aim there.
Check with your Sec of state to see what paperwork is needed, as well as trademark licences. There are help groups at most local colleges, look for them and if you need the help, go use them.

We mow a few yards for flying/maintenance money. I used to have a model car parts resin casting business. We specialized in Na$car 1/24th scale upgrades, but with the over-commercialization of stock car racing we quit following the sport entirely. I just may do some short-run casting for fellow WIXers warbird model projects, time will tell. I also am an unpublished author that would like to get his first book done this winter.
