Most of us know that tattoos are usually associated with the Navy and sea-going folk, but I have been plodding around the net looking for any evidence if tattoos were something that the air corps of the 30s and 40s or the Air Force of the 50s to present had within their ranks... heck, Army, Navy, and Marines saw lots of them.

Furthermore, I was also looking to see if aviation as a pretty passionate hobby, prompts folks to permanantly devote a piece of their body to it. We see it with Harley Davidson motorcycles (or any older motorcycle brand), hot rodders, and some pro sports... but rarely see anything from aviation folks.

Has anyone seen or heard of examples to show that there are some folks out there doing this? If so, tell your story!

For the record, I have some tattoo work devoted to aviation... actually all I have thus far relates in some way to aviation. Pictured below is my air racing theme thighpiece...

...if you look at the placement of the images and the layout, you'll notice it is like the Bendix trophy coming "alive".

Never get a tatoo, they fade in the future. And you may feel ashamed of it when you get older. Just a bad idea.

Maybe you don't want a tatoo, but it is kind of stupid to tell grown men to not get a tattoo.

I was thinking of getting the Eagle with boxing gloves from the 4th FG, and the words "Freedome isn't free under it." What do you think?

What if that guy changes his mind about B-17's in a couple years?

Well, I reckon he could get a couple FW-190s put on there, shooting it down. Then, if he decides he doesn't like FW-190s, he could get a couple P-38s, or some other Allied fighters, shooting them down.
