Perrin Air Force Base Museum

While picking up the chopper and taking pics of the ruskie transport we stopped in to the little museum. We were in a hurry to leave so didn't stay very long, I will have to get back there sometime to absorb all that they had which was a lot for a tiny museum! The inside pics were only half of the museum BTW.

Rock on! Great to see a T-37 at ground level where you can look inside - it's so disappointing at other facilities (NMUSAF for example) where jets like the T-37 are hung from the ceiling and hard to see - when, arguably, more USAF pilots have flown that bird than almost any other, and would enjoy a close up trip down memory (or lack of memory) lane. Now, just get those dummies, er mannequins, outta there so we can see better.

Not totally sure since we didn't have much time to absorbe everything, I think its something to do with the base swimming pool. I'd have to go back for sure.

The Defense Department built a pretty elaborate recreation area up on the lake way back when the Base was active, do you suppose the sandbox is related to that? We drove up to the rec area several years ago but the gate was closed. From my failing memory it seems that they had cabins, boat docks and all sorts of recreational stuff for the folks at Perrin.

I visited the Perrin museum, it definitely has heart. Adding a photo. Pictured is an R4360 piston, and a R2800? jug and piston from a swallowed valve.
