I made a post over on my forum. Figured maybe some of you would find interesting. There are still several surviving P-40's of the 24th PG..wrecks naturally but maybe possible to be recovered someday. :?:

There's also a B-17D in the water near Zamboanga, Mindanao.

Yes, it's a total fabrication and untrue story perpetuated by a member who no longer visits WIX.

I have a friend that did some extensive work on that utilizing ground penetrating radar. they found an old medical waste dump and 1 radial engine off of some Japanese plane. there are various speculations on the final end of those planes one of which is that they were burned. Personally I believe they were used as ravine fill to lengthen the runway. I believe they are still there but under tons of concrete and asphalt more commonly known as 02 R 20 L

Some time ago, I found and posted some pictures of the Clark Field P-38 aircraft dump. After 10 min of searching, I cannot find those photos now.

What I found in addition to the well-known photos of P-38s being stacked up as scrap, were photos of these P-38s being set ablaze with explosives.

Maybe someone will eventually able to explore the dump, but I hope something more substantial is found besides melted aluminum.
