Thanks Jack for another great collection of aviation wondermoments that you have been kind enough to share with us. NOW I usually refer to Jack as "You The Man", but I have to say this time THANKS Stoney--"You The Man"!
You guys are great for sharing this good stuff. Now I got to find a copy of the movie and watch it again. :D 8)

I know a guy who still kicks himself in the rear for not buying one of the leftover B-25's after the movie. He said he could have had one for less than $7,000.

That would be the combat bird.We were at Harrys auction and I was talking to Carl and asked him what was the deal with buying "that" particular bird.He just looked at me and smiled so I knew something was up.After the auction later that night he told me.Just wow!

I fell in love with that airplane at Oshkosh '95.

I was just a little squirt then, but they let me bum around with them the whole week. I was going to fly on it as well, but missed them by a matter of minutes. After they were on the other side of the ropes security didn't believe I was suppose to be on it. That flight ended up being the cover shoot for Sport Aviation. I think it was also the one where the pilot for 81 of her 83 (IIRC) missions got to fly her as well.

Oh how I wish I had made that flight.

Small correction
That's Tallman landing thru the smoke as they shoot the scene just above the red VW

Tallman taking off through the smole of the pseudo crashed B-25

I have never seen the film but will look out for a copy now.

Ps afetr the Lanc,the B25 is my favourite bomber,I love the exhaust 'chuckle'!

P.S. Stoney , I've always loved the down the runway shot of the mass takeoff, I thought you all purposefully were all over the place rather than a neat formation takeoff , after your story I now know different !

The Warbird In'tl article was a re-print of one done years ago by Frank Tallman, Saw it but don't remember if they gave Frank credit.
