My best friend and now flight instructor, lost a friend in the mid-air in Florida. As far as I know it was the first friend he had lost in an aviation accident.

I passed on my condolences to my friend, and now they are also with you.

Bill, I am sorry. You know how to work the "Master Plan". Never easy but for what ever the reason, destined to happen. Remember him for the great things and never let go of the memories.

Like you, I've had to go thru this far far too often, and it always seems like the good ones go West far too soon. I find that I reflect more on this around this time of the year, for a number of reasons. Changing of the seasons being akin to a changing of the guard, perhaps, and the shortness of the seasons reminds us that life is all too short.

The best I've been able to come up with, as to why it seems like we lose the best, and the pr!cks of the world keep hanging around, is that *because* these folks are so good, and make such a positive impression on those they meet and spend time with, the void they leave is consequently large.

My heart aches for your loss, and that of the aviation community.

Gary, that poem is on the headstone of the man who taught me to fly the Spitfire. Maybe it will be on mine.

Any one of us, can make a final departure at any given moment as we are all aware of.
Most of us in this Forum, are no strangers to the of the death grimlin which comes with the game.
As most of you in here, are Mech-In-Necks, and Aviators, First Officers, and Flight Engineers, please check all of your important documents, Will's, etc, and make sure that things are in order sould a mishap cause your unannounced departure with a negative ETR.
Bill, Should you desire for the poem to be on your NavPoint, make your wishes known in writing to your loved ones.....and lets put off any departures until you advise that you are ready for life's last taxi out.....
