All that being said... Kent-o-sabe took these Oct. 15th and it took him til yesterday to get a CD of them to me, BUT they are PEACHY at Pueblo, Colorado and that ain't ALL bad.
Maybe if you are nice I will publish some more, but one must start somewhere mustn't one?

BTW does anyone know what is the foot operated switch below the F/E panel for? Intercom PTT switch maybe?

It's the accelerator.......duh! It makes the plane go faster!

Wow! She looks a lot better than she did when I saw her in the mid 80s. Back then she was a stripped shell sitting outside, with bare-frame control surfaces. The guy in charge of the place told me he hoped to get her to the point where they could run up at least one engine. It seemed pretty far-fetched at the time, but not so much now!

I am glad Kent sent the pics and we can SALUTE the folks at Pueblo for getting it open for tours and worthy of hanging the red velvet ropes!!!

Thanks for posting these pictures of this rarely seen B-29. I read in a magazine some years ago that the interior had been badly vandalized at one time and the museum had made a significant effort to restore the flight deck. Looks like it has come along way...

Yup, it's a foot operated PTT switch. FIFI doesn't have one, the hole is there but we have a voice activated I-com system.

Is it just me or is that Flight Engineers panel....err...un-organized??!

It's a little hard to see, but I think there are 4 tachometers in the center, none of them labled, each a little different (1 goes to to 3500rpm, the other 3 to 4000rpm) they're not arranged right-to-left, 4 in a row like the engines are; other gauges are sort of helter-skelter all over the place......

Just my $0.02...

When flying as FE, many times the only time I know we're airborne is when I hear the nose gear retracting as you are busy adjusting throttles, cowl flaps, watching gages, temperatures, etc.

Yes THIS FE panel is in disarray as most of the gages are just fillers.

FIFI's panel is laid out thusly;

The first two rows from the left from top are Carburetor Air Temp, Cylinder Head Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure Main section, Oil Pressure Nose Case. All are dual reading gages.

The third and fourth vertical rows of gages from top are Cowl Flap Opening indicator, Engine Tachometer, Manifold pressure, Fuel Pressure.

Row five from top are (1 1/2 inch gage is not used), Synchronizing Tachometer, Outside Vertical Velocity, Outside Altimeter.

Row six from top Clock, Cabin Vertical Velocity, Cabin Altimeter.

Row seven from top Fuel Flow, Fuel Flow, Airspeed Indicator, Oil Chip Detector, AC frequency Meter.

We also have an AC and DC volt meters, one each, and seven DC Generator Loadmeters.

The three most important to watch on takeoff are the Tachometers, Manifold Pressure, and Cylinder Head Temp.

Cool. I didn't know anything about this one.
