yes...Kittyhawk was way cool and didn't cover nearly as much real estate as I envisioned. I made my way to FL through VA and DC. After seeing the new WF exhibit downtown I had to stop at Kittyhawk. Udvar Hazy is incredible but it makes me feel really old seeing Loudenslager's Laser, Hoover's Shrike, and Scholl's Chipmunk under one roof. I think I have photos of all 3 at the Cleveland Airshow back in the early 80's. I didn't get a chance to climb around anything at kermits...sorry....they are reviving open cockpit day though.

Nice pictures, Jim. At Udvar-Hazy, have they finished the wings on the He-219 yet? Last time I was there (few years ago), they only had the fuselage done.

It was nice to have the CF TA-4 on display at Udvar Hazy a couple of years ago, even if it was only for a few hours. It was also nice to know that it was the only aircraft there that was going to fly out ! :lol:

Very nice. My wife and I will be heading to Florida the first week in March and Fantasy of Flight will be our first stop. Between aviation and wildlife shooting my poor wife is going to need some special attention.

What's the Japanese aircraft fuselage in the Udvar-Hazy pic? Looks like a Ki-45 to me, but I don't know my Japanese bomber types too well.

I was fortunate enough to get a tour of the Udvar Hazy Center BEFORE it opened due to my involvement with the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trophy. We flew to IAD in my buddy's Citation and they came over and picked us up. Not all the airplanes were in place and they were all covered with plastic wrapping as there was still work going on in the building. The best part was when all 6 of us got to climb into the ENOLA GAY and get our photos taken sitting in the pilots seat! That is a photo I treasure!
