American Chopper, F-16 Ride

About 40 minutes into the episode "Wet Bike 2", some of the boys in the
shop get treated to a ride in an F-16. I had the TV on in background while
at the computer, so I didn't get what outfit gave them their ride. I assume
it will replay in other areas as it does here. There wasn't more than a few
minutes of flying...but it was entertaining. Vinnie did the best..no sick..and
his pilot said Vin had the right "bod for G's". I think he pulled 9G
without fading!!

They flew with the Boys From Syracuse NY ANG. Would have been nice if they shaved for once. BTW by bike was an ulgy monstrosity.

I'm glad to see AF public affairs coming up with something that might appeal to young people instead of just hanging around with Lee Greenwood and others of that genre.

After I retired from the USAF and became a jounalist I got lots of neat rides...a B-1B, T-6 (the new one), and a cross country in a C-130..not all that fun actually....and a ride in a civil T-6 (the old) one at an open house.
Fun stuff and good publicity from the resulting stories.

True JB..nice to see some regular(?) folks get some attention from the PR
guys.

Jack, yeah I agree..the bike was fugly. As for the representatives from the
great unshaved masses...well, freedom can be an ugly business.

Yeah, imagine if Air Force pilots were allowed to fly with beards and long hair with tatoos galore. That would be scary, hey and that might be a morale booster too. You have biker F-16 pilots attacking the enemy.

Funny you should say that Chris...in my short time aboard diesel boats,
the gruntz in the engine rooms were some of the grubbiest, bearded,
tatooed scum you ever saw...many of them were bikers and motorheads!
They were some of the best folks I ever knew! We rarely had technical
problems until the "pretty boys" from the shipyard at Vallejo got their mits
on our equipment! Apparently, the machinery has no idea whether one is
clean-shaven or not.

I agree with you. My mentor at a machine shop fit that description, and he was among the best.

That's the difference between the black shoe navy and the brown shoe navy. Sewerpipe dwelling bubbleheads are a whole difference story. That's why we put a fence around them in port and line it with marines.

Ahhhh...so those were Marines?!!??? We thought out of respect, ya'll were
loaning us your girlfriends!! Some of the Enginemen and all of the Officers
fancied them..but not me, they were "a bit butch", and too pretty for my
tastes.

Thanx Jack, that clears up a mystery! Occaisionally a copy of
"Leatherneck" would come in the mail to the Wardroom. Everytime the
Captain would put the Yeoman on restriction...the O's were certain the
Yeo was stealing the centerfolds!!

It seems strange that the Marines sort of congrigate at the subs while we kicked them off our bird farms.
Wardroom? What the heck is that?? Must be the place the O's play ace-ducey while the works's being done!

They hang out on the flight deck when flight ops are down. Their rountine is sleep, wake up, shoot, eat, and sleep..

I never saw a Marine on the flight deck. They were either on the hanger bay doing push-ups or getting their hair cut.
