Love the photos Jack!

I like that Mohr was flying around with his panel and instrument lights rheostats off. It always amazes me how many (airline and other) pilots will not turn off their panel lights after sunrise - and subsequent pilots leave them on as well. Probably doesn't generate a lot of heat in a P-47 but it certainly contributes a decent amount of heat to a summertime Boeing cockpit. Weird pet peeve of mine, I know. I also leave the seat belts nice when I leave. Whatever.

In the photo where the control stick grip is leaning right, it looks like the recognition lights panel is there by the stick - we discussed this in a earlier thread. Anybody know if HJGB has a recognition lights panel - and is it operational?

Where dit this aircraft come from? Is there any history on the recovery of it? From where and when..thanks Jack,very good stuff as always. chuck

Old Chuck, This P-47 was raised from the depths of a Lake in Austria 4 years ago. This past week on the National Geographic Ch. there was a documentary shown about the recovery. I'm sure it will be on again if you want to check the listings.

I hope they trace the crew chief lettering so it is exactly the way it was on the repaint.

Mattsb2000, The new owner of the plane Jack Croul of California, is having the plane restored but I'm not sure if iys going to be a flying example or not.

This one should be a static in the NASM or NMUSAF! Way to original and well preserved to make it a flyer. Can't they trade it for a static in one of those museums?
