my GOD my house is cold!

Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:01 am

mind, I'm in central Mississippi. I'm sort of used to it after wintering in Colorado and Wyoming. But I haven't put new insulation back in the house yet and I haven't cranked the heater up. I have a kerosene heater in here
because I don't trust the old heating unit after the flooding. So I'm sitting here typing away, and I look over at Jenny(my dog) , and she has crawled under the covers on my bed and is staring at me and shivering

How's everybody holding up with this weather?

Well up here in lower Canuckia I'm burning a whole lot of Natural Gas, but staying warm. Actually it's warmer than it has been -- 0 F right now with a low tonight of 7 below. My big problem is that I'm gaining weight because it's been too cold to get out walking...

According to the Canada weather service this should be the first time since 1971 that every place in Canda coast to coast will have a white
Christmas. I'm ready for some Global Warming, myself.

Haven't you read the new Gore theorists reports. "The cold weather is caused by global warming". Now that is one that puts them over the top as "wackos".

got down to 45 here last night, house is at 65, have not turned on the heat at all, had the doors opened all day yesterday until it started to rain. Clear skies today, until late afternoon then more rain on the way.

Hovering around freezing the last few days here in north Texas. Suppose to get to 60F today.

Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:23 pm

We got a foot of snow here north of Detroit last Friday. Then the wind started blowing 30mph blowing the snow all around. Highs in the single digits, windchills -30F. Getting another 4-6 inches of snow today and tonight then freezing rain and sleet for Christmas Eve.

... needless to say I get that "why in Hades did we move back here from Florida" look from the missus!!!! :P

covers

Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:33 pm

Muddy, are you sure as to who is under your covers? Are you real sure how sober you were when you left that bar last night about 2 pm.?
Go check the front paws, dogs don't wear fingernail polish.
Anyway, stay warm. It is not real cold here, about 22F mid morning, but is sure is winter. The snow is up to my knees in the yard, it is sure nuff ski season. If you are trying to drive or fly in there may be some problems. If you are here already, hooray, maybe you will have great skiing and an excuse not to have to go back to the dark world.

It was 4 degrees F here this morning in NH when I headed out for work. It is not too bad, it is just winter in New England. The 15 inches of snow over the weekend is making for a white Christmas for most of New England.

The worst part of the weather is that there are still more than 50,000 people without power in NH and MA. 4 degrees is cold, but at least I have a heated house to go home to. There are some people in the office here that have not had power for the past 12 days. The power companies are saying it could be another week or two before everyone has power back. That makes for a pretty cold holiday.

Would somebody please explain to me again how global warming is causing this.

Bill, you've forgotten how awful WET cold is :) and it was 23 here last night. So my house, open to the elements as it is, is like a big freaking freezer.

Besides, I wear a nice neutral color on my toenails so it matches all of my pumps.

Hey, but you got cable and internet. Google a picture of a fire. :supz:

Tue Dec 23, 2008 6:19 pm

yup :) and electricity and gas. I just need walls :p

If I want a fire I go in the backyard and burn all my scraps in a pit I dug :)
