Two of the Yak-11s on the USCAR are N5YK and N11YH. N5YK is regd. to Tom Everhart of Louisville, KY, and N11YH to Jim McKinstry of Mead, CO. I seem to remember a report on a forum some time ago that McKinstrys plane was on rebuild at Ft. Collins, CO but nothing as to whether or not is has flown. Any info? Same with Tom Everhart. Any info?
A friend of mine shot a photo of a Yak-11 at Ft. Lauderdale almost 15 years ago. The plane had accomodation for a Merlin, and wore the cowls off of an ex-Dominican P-51D. It was said to be owned by a Phil Applequist, who I believe later died in the crash of a Nord Nordalpha??? Can anyone supply info about this plane?

I remember one for sale a few years back with a -1 Merlin on it that seems to fit the description.

Can't help you with those 2 but thought you'd enjoy these shots of Sam Richardson flying N11MQ now with a new owner in Venice, Florida.

The Merlin Yak 11 is Tom Dodsons and its hangared and for sale at RVS in Tulsa, OK. We had our CJ-6 in the hangar with it for the last few months. All of the P-51 parts have been purchased from the project and the airframe is partway through a racer modification process, however it hasn't been worked on for the last few years. Originally, they were going to race the plane at Reno under the name 'Yakstang', but it didn't come to fruitation.
McKinstry's bird had been for sale for a while recently, however I don't know what happened to it recently.

Just wondering. Having looked at the prices on T-6s on Courtesy and other places, how much would a stock Yak-11 trainer command (without a US engine!) these days in comparison. And how much more expensive to operate would it be?
