Since you are the photo guy..got any shots of actors who served in WWII? I see Jack Palance flew with the 455th BG. He is a local actor born not to far from where I live. 8)

What name did Palance serve under? He had a couple different names he was using for his boxing career. Some other historians and I have been trying to unravel the Jack Palance's AAF career for some time. We can find absolutely no evidence of the famous B-24 crash that he was supposedly in. Still looking.

Nathan,

Enter "Jack Palance B-24 crash" on a search engine and see what you come up with. Dozens of hits.

B-24 BESTWEB says Palance crash landed a B-24 near Tucson, causing serious injury.

Another source says Palance bailed out of a burning B-24.

Still another source says that Palance crash landed a B-24 in Yugoslavia.

I could never find an AAF Form No. 14 to confirm the B-24 crash in Tucson. We really kicked this topic around on AAF.com some time back when Palance died. Most obits of Palance refer to the B-24 crash and how it caused him to have plastic surgery. Still looking for the truth on this one.

Check it out and give us a hand solving this one.

I'd be willing to believe that Palance crash landed two B-24s at once if we could just find some official documents confirming it.

Still looking.
