Gang, I recently ordered the "Steve Canyon" Special Edition DVD & it's very good.

http://stevecanyondvd.blogspot.com/2007 ... cover.html

"Steve Canyon" Episode Guide:

http://homepage.mac.com/twonky/stevecan ... no_pix.htm

"Steve Canyon" Flight Helmet Commercial:

http://www.ifilm.com/video/2784077

The Audio & Video are excellent for this long-forgotten USAF Adventure show. They did a great job of restoring it. It's fun to see what the USAF was like back then, especially in such clear video. There's some really cool & rare USAF Fighter & Bomber Aircraft in this series, as well as some awesome Flight Jackets, Flight Helmets & Flight Gear. All in brand-new pristine condition of course!! There's even a "sample" of future episodes & that look very interesting. Let's hope they release the entire series!!
Order Your's soon .... Digger

Two of the episodes that really stuck in ye olde memory banks were -(1) When some kids with .22s shot a B-47 which in turn caused a failure of the aircraft to pessurise. Steve was to fly along side to determine the status of the crew as the B-47 was heading for Russia. He could tell the two visible crew members appeared to be frost covered and more than likely dead. However the third man was down in the fuselage and couldn't be seen. Don't rember the details as to whether Steve shot it down at the point of no return or the plane went into a spin by itself to resolve the situation.
(2) Think this was one of the last episodes. It involved a C-47 that strayed into Soviet space much like the infamous C-130 incident. Anyway , with MiGs in pursuit they managed to land on the Russian side of the border with Turkey. Trying to taxy onto friendly territory,I believe they ran out of fuel. Now Russian land vehicles have joined the hunt. Our brave hero (with a little help from his crew) pushes the plane across the border thus saving the day.
My details are most likely fuzzy but the overall plot is correct. Sure would be nice to be able to refresh all the details correctly again. May have to look into buying this series depending on cost as I'm retarded, I mean retired.
Thanks for the info on the availability of the series as it was one of my faves.

Looking through the list of episodes , I see the B-47 story to be #26 and the C-47 to be #14. Looks like I did get the general plot OK. Again, thanks for the info.

Since I've found this great forum, as Producer of the Steve Canyon DVD's I want to thank you all for your kind comments. I also would like to point out that last month we released Volume One of THE COMPLETE STEVE CANYON ON TV (which is only available at this time directly from our website). There will ultimately be 3 volumes and the final volume will include a custom printed slipcase that will hold all 3 as a set.

We appreciate the support of members of this group and we want you to know that we are fans of the Century series jets as well as the other aircraft in STEVE CANYON. I'm no expert, but I've been a fan since I was a kid and I know my way around period military hardware pretty well.

Note that besides having the first 12 episodes of the series, it features  MANY classic late '50's USAF planes in some footage that can only be seen on this DVD! F-84 Thunderstreak, F-86 Sabre, F-89 Scorpion, F-94 Starfire, F-100 Super Sabre, F-101 Voodoo, F-102 Delta Dagger, F-104 Starfighter, H-19 Chickasaw, H-21 Workhorse, C-47 Skytrain, C-119 Flying Boxcar, C-130 Hercules, B-26 Invader, B-50 Superfortress, B-52 Stratofortress, SM-65 Atlas missile, MGM-1 Matador missile, Q-2A Firebee and others (including the Soviet MiG-15)!

I don't want to turn this into an ad, so I'll leave this at this point. Feel free to ask and I will be glad to answer any questions you might have about the STEVE CANYON shows and history to the best of my ability.

Thanks for reminding us about this - I just placed my order and can't wait to get it! I'm planning an F-86 piece for late next year and this will provide some inspiration for sure!

Guys, at $19.95 + free shipping you have no excuse ... 8)

Digger, thanks for bringing this up and especially, thanks to John Ellis for making the DVD's possible.I watched the series as a kid and bought the Special Edition DVD last year.I was amazed at how well the series has stood up over time.It is every bit as good as I'd remembered.I recently sent the DVD to my brother (ex-USAF) and he was also very impressed and could hardly wait for more.I just ordered two copies of the Season One DVD.I also remember the B-47 shootdown episode in particular.I guess that one made an impression on a lot of people.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and for ordering the DVDs:

Mike: Those boys were shooting a Winchester rifle...so it was probably a .30-30 or colt .45 (it has a kick that nearly knocks the boy firing it down in the episode)

Jerry: I finally got that helmet in 2007 (off eBay) 47 years after my parents promised and then failed to find one. And note that for this picture that getting that helmet on was only slightly less painful than getting it off...it was intended for a much smaller noggin (and ears!).

Wade: Thanks for your plugs elsewhere (I noticed). The real F-86 episode is the next-to-last filmed THE KOREAN STORY which flashes back to MAJOR Steve Canyon in Korea (and also has some nice F-104 action in it). This episode will be in Volume 3 which will be out sometime in May, so not too long to wait.

Skybolt: at this juncture only the Steve Canyon Special Edition is available on Netflix (not Volume One, which is only available from us directly) This may change but not in the foreseeable future.

Jack: I have not seen the pix...can you link me up? I love both of those planes, and everytime I drive past the Burbank Mall I can't help rubbernecking at the huge P-38 graphic at one of the entrances

Larry: The B-47 episode OPERATION INTERCEPT is definitely the one that permeated many impressionable kids' minds...and some adults to for that matter...here's a link to a pertinent TIME Magazine article from 1959: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,810982,00.html

Thanks again everyone, and if I don't get back before have a happy new year!

Those are GREAT Jack...and I haven't seen them before, so you get a Dewey button for excellence! Thanks so much for posting those!

The Post Office closes early today so I am racing to get over there and ship everyone's DVD orders from WIX out today...we ship First Class so some of you should get them this weekend, and the rest early this coming week.

Has anyone considered putting the complete run of Terry and the Pirates / Steve Canyon comics on CD or DVD? I think that such a move would be popular and introduce new generations of fans. I would certainly buy copies to give as presents to my grand-children.
