Air show of a different type.

My neighborhood got hit by a light tornado late this afternoon, tearing up property and breaking out a lot of windows in SUV's and houses. This was followed up by an airshow by the Calif. Highway Patrol flying around in a pair of Cessnas and a Eurocopter, not to mention the horde of news people. The helo landed at a nearby park.

A tornado in California, never heard of it ever happening. Is this the first one in recorded history?

No, they had a pair of them touch down in Sacramento about a month or two ago, causing a bit more damage, removing and collapsing some roofs. CA has them every now and then, but nothing like they get back east.

Had one a few miles from my house some years back. Not incommon at all in CA, they just don't stay on the ground for miles like they do in the midwest. They even had a freak snowstorm in L.A. last winter that dropped a significant amount in a few square mile area. Must be global warming. If only the US had signed the Kyoto treaty this could all have been prevented.

We even have them in Maine, although nothing near as exciting as Tornado Alley(used to live there!).

Yes it could've. Any torandoes whic occured a week after the Kyoto treaty was signed could've been prevented. The pen is indeed mighter than the sword..

Yup, they officially upgraded us to an F1 tornado today. Finally this city is on the map. Our air show has since added numerous news helicopters throughout the day.

Does a tornado ever strike twice in the same location? Maybe they are expecting another.
