Gary, you'll be sorely missed in the world of aviation and especially within the warbird community. I've learned a lot about aircraft restoration and maintenance, as well as safety, from reading your posts and viewing your photos here on the WIX. By sharing your insight and experience, you've helped me to be a better and safer B-17 volunteer for VFM. I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I feel like you're a friend. I wish you the very best of luck in your new career path, and I sincerely hope that your decision to go in a new direction turns out to be the best one you've ever made! There have been many, many times that I've thought seriously about abandoning my 29 year career in electronics (with the same company!) to go off and try something else completely different. . . :?

With the greatest of respect,

Hey,
Whatever he is getting himself into we will know soon.
He is just getting a few extra pictures to post for us to see.
I will assume that he is a WIX addict like the rest of us. :)

Gary,
Thanks for giving us a whole bunch of things to talk about, for a long time to come. From the months of 13 hour days to the thank you gifts to the people who donated to Ol 927, we have enjoyed all of the posts.
The kilroy is still my favorite!

GOOD LUCK!

Gary, best of luck in your new endeavor. Just because your job change has taken you out of aviation, I hope it will still be a hobby. I really enjoyed hanging out with you that day a couple of summers back.
Keep in touch with us.
Doug

WOW :!: I'm speachless and that's a rare event
One of the greatest things about WIX is meeting folks and making
new friends and Gary is on my A-list  :!:
Oh and what Zane said :!: :!:

Gary is the one that helped to completely changed my mind about the CAF.

This is truly a sad day. Gary, you are one of the main reasons I work as hard as I do for the CAF. Please stay in touch with us and if you are every in GA, my door is always open or if I can be of any help please call or email.

From a fellow "employed in warbirds" guy to another, all my best Gary... I know how hard it is to leave a position that many of us consider to be something of a "tip top position getting paid to work with warbirds" and seek new opportunities in the private sector. Let it be said that though working with warbirds can be cool, it's a thankless job at times that you'll never get rich on...

To appropriately care for the animals of Austin Acres, I am sure this new opportunity will bring in more green to perhaps return one to the sky someday... and that's what it's all about. Bringing the fun back to warbirds by not allowing them to make your paycheck, but burn through it! :-)

Happy trails my friend and I certainly hope to eventually shake your hand someday in person!

Ryan

Gary,

Your dedication to safety above everything else was the primary reason I got involved. Your attention to detail and passion to do things correctly are a rare commodity nowadays. Ellen and I are proud to have you as a friend.

Thanks, pal.

Well Gary,

There's not much more I can add to this thread. Everyone before me has spoken the same words I would have used.

I feel as though I know you quite well from your thread on Ol'927 and I'm sad to see you leave the warbird community.

You will be missed.

I wish you all the best in whatever your future has in store. I know for sure that you will be successful in whatever you choose.

Good luck!

- David mcIntosh

Hope Gary stays on here, he seems to be the only one who gets my sarcasam, even if he is sometimes the butt of my sarcasam. Good look in whatever you do and keep up the wasp farm.

Wow, what a shocker! I'm sure there's a lot more to the story that is probably personal and will never be told on a public forum. But, with the skill and talent that Gary has, he will excel in anything he does - I'm sure of that.

Gary, thanks for all of your tireless efforts and motivation to try to turn the CAF around. Thanks to you, I have seen the CAF through a more positive light and have been inspired. Thanks!

One question for Gary. Since you are apparently "getting out of aviation" does that mean you're completely getting out, including during your "off time"? Are you so "burnt out" on warbirds that we will never see you again here on WIX?

Thanks for all of the memories and I toast you, Sir! :D
