Wrecks in mainland China

How many wrecks, especially all the "Hump" flights to supply forward B-29 bases in China have been searched or documented. How hard would it be to recover any finds from China?

searching for wrecks in the hump / himalayan mountain area is damned near impossible!! the terrain is practically inaccessible, & not practical for even short term exploration. i've been told of countless wrecks with mia crewmen still lying about, & preserved from the cold at high altitude. it is definetely 1 of the most uninhabitatable regions on good ole terra firma!! even the big shot millionaire collectors couldn't organize an expedition their successfully. the glacier girl recovery under 200 plus feet of ice should be considered a cake walk compared to the himalayas!! no close support bases etc. logistically impossible to conduct a practical recovery. regards, tom

Awhile back I remember reading that a USA team had recovered some remains from a "hump" crash site.
You might see if there is a JTF Full Accounting website or history.
Of course, they're more interested in missing servicemen than planes....

This month's aerplane has a letterfrom a guy who was told in a Hong Kong hotel of 6 Gladiators in various states of repair on an airfield in China.

Didn't Paul C mention Mustangs in China?

No doubt there are airframes there, but as it is China, it takes patience.

I have done some research into it. and there are a couple of airfields that could do with a good dose of looking at.

Maybe one day. Right now I'm busy holding on to my temper with my fingernails talking to Arabs.
