Matt, thanks very much for the shots of the C-119 coming into Glendale, AZ last December. You are lucky to have been involved with that flight. I hope it will be airborne again one of these days.

The arrival and touch down of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum's C-119 went very well this afternoon. It arrived over the Hagerstown Airport about 1:45 PM EST and touched down a little after 2:00 PM. Although the weather was very cool, breezy and cloudy the visibility was very good and it was an exciting event. It is now sitting by the C-82 Packet that flew in there back in Oct. 2006.

Sorry that neither of these great vintage transports are slated to fly again, but glad I could witness this final flight. I expect that some great photos and perhaps a video will be posted on the Museum's website soon.

Matt that is so awesome. I love the opening scenes of the movie with Johnny Cash playing over shots of the C-119 flying. That is awesome that you get to work on that cool hardware man.

Things are going well. We put an engine back on the C-97 about 3 weeks ago. So it now has all four again....

Now to get them running....

My dad was a flight engineer on the C119s with the RCAF sure wish he was around to see 22111 Fly again.
The last four C119 operational in the RCAF were at CJATC Rivers I was on the ramp and got to do a run up on one with my dad before they left.
I know his heart would be with you guys on this flight.

Anybody know the status of the one the Mid Atlantic Museum has?

Will they return it to flying status after they finish the P-61?

They were starting to do a restoration back in 1997, but I think all of there resources have been pretty much put into the P-61 since then. The Martin 4-0-4, Viscount, P2V Neptunes, and another airliner all used to run back then, or were pretty close to running. They've all since ceased operations, which is rather sad. Do hope things change though.

On another note. There may yet be another Flying Boxcar in the air one day. There's a chap in Palmer, Alaska who has two of them, with one being rebuilt to fly. Here's a photo I took of them in March, 2007.
