either the CA15 or CA14a would be my choices as even though they were both built both were scrapped and I believe the CA15 was clocked at something like 520 mph across melbourne at one stage

Grumman F11F that is the one I think, anywho it is the one they worked on that had the veriable geomotry wings and was simmilar the the F-111. It helped to develop the F-14.

The XF5F looks like an easy replica to buid! A couple of Lodestar nacelles, an Ercoupe tail, an F-84 canopy... Probably easier to build than a Whirlwind!

I would agree the P-40Q was a nice thought, but really it was still outclased by the P-47N and the P-40 should not have been in production anymore. You will say I am crazy but we could have used that production for say the P-47.

For that Matter the Navy version of the P-47. It already could launch from carriers so the next step is to land What would you all think?

I had not really thought if building an XF5F but the thoughts are interesting.

Well that was a while ago, my family moved south to Saco about 4 years ago to help take care of my Grandparents. I think it was probably 2000 or so when I was back in that town. Though it still did have its potato house style mall, though it never is doing a lot of profit.

Presque Isle was a great place I have a friend still there who says it is picking up.

On the never flew subjust crew on these. The bf 109T-1 (from the carrier Graf Zepilen) So that gives you two nevers! Also the Me 155 from a German Carrier! For the us the XB19 project!

Never got a photo. Just imagine that Australian Mustang conversion that never flew, times two.

Painted NMF, aka Testor's silver, with the firewall forwards replaced with nacelles made from AA battery casings, cowls from the Revell 1/144 DC-7, prop blades cut from sheet plastic and spinners made from tip tank tips. Fuselage scoops removed and faired over (I think by now you're beginning to wonder how much Squadron Green Putty was involved here? A lot). Marked as 44-65165 because that one didn't have a notable career; civil reg "N5151B". Wanted to give it Heckle and Jeckle nose art - one bird on each cowl - but I wasn't that good an artist.
