For some reason, many Americans have pretty thin skin.
We, collectively, are able to dish out plenty of opinions but seem to take offense when those from other parts of the world send their opinions back at us.
To my foreign friends, worry not. Americans sometimes seem pretty arrogant, egotistical, and unable to cope with the fact that there is a "rest of the world" out there. Most of that is just appearance, unfortunately.
To my fellow Yanks, not everyone has to agree with us. Seriously. It's okay.

I wouldn't apologize for Americans. You sure don't speak for me. Americans are the nicest people in the world. Only hollywood makes us look bad. Besides, I've met some real nasty snotty socialist type Europeans who make the worst American pale by comparison.

James, just a few things that stood out on the internet regarding your post. I thought you might get a laugh out of it as I did. In my short experiences with you James here on WIX I have been annoyed, offended and insulted. Then I finally began to understand your personality and realized it was me, not you, who caused myself all the grief. I have lost someone who irritates me with someone who I call a friend and mentor now. I have never seen the side of you that you seem to think you are being accused of. And if anyone here is accusing you of bashing Yanks. Then just wait until I start bashing them as well. I think most Yanks are p*ssys anyway. haha ...
A marketing professor was once giving a presentation to an Australian university class. To explain the difficulty of building a patriotic image for a brand in Australia, he draped an Australian flag over his shoulders and struck a pose as if looking at the sunset in an American aftershave commercial. Noting that the class looked unimpressed, he took the flag off his shoulders and enthusiastically polished his tushy with it. The class started laughing. He then asked if anyone was offended. A chorus of nos went up. A lone voice said that, although he wasn't offended, he was disappointed. The lecturer, who had previously worked for the defence forces, gave the presentation a distinction. If the same thing had been done in America, expulsion from the university would have been a distinct possibility.
It should be stressed that it was not a liberal arts class full of 18-year-olds that had an ideological opposition to everything. It was a post-graduate marketing class full of students that should have been able to appreciate the importance of respect, loyalty, teamwork, and constructive thinking. Unfortunately, the students had been raised to believe that it was more worthy to disrespect something, than respect it.
Unlike Australians, Americans do not find polishing one's tushy with the national flag to be an act of hilarity. For Americans, not only does it show a lack of consideration to the values of others, it also shows an innability to appreciate the benefits of a group working together to achieve a common goal.

For different reasons, many people in both Australia and America are reluctant to recognise their cultural uniqueness. Some Americans argue that Americans can't be stereotyped as not everyone drives pick-up trucks and talks about when they were abducted by aliens. Likewise, a minority of Australians are obsessed with telling the world that the average Australian doesn't wrestle crocodiles.

It's been great getting to know you on WIX and then meeting you in person quite a few times. When's the next time you're up in Canada?
Everone....It's true, James does have a unique sense of humour, and if you've ever seen him talk about Mustangs in person, well... it's so blatently obvious that he's just joking.
Even though he may never say it in a public forum like this, I'm sure James has the absolute and utmost respect for the P-51 Mustang.
As one can see with Jame's job with WW, he was tasked with giving clout to all that wasn't the P-51. I imagine it takes a lot more digging in libraries, military records, archives, etc. to come up with decent information about a Supermarine Walrus as compared to the P-51.
Sure he fights for the underdog. I like to do the same. It's kind of eye opening and satisfying to research an obsure topic/airplane and be aware that most other people wouldn't know the first thing about it.

JDK gets it right sometimes. This is one of those occasions. As for the P-51, well it was built to a British specification. Once the Rolls Royce Merlin was fitted it became a splendid aeroplane. The only advice I would like to give is this: Do NOT confuse patrioteering with patriotism.
