Desperate need of T-6 pictures without wings panels.

Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:09 pm

Folks,

I really need some T-6 pictures. They must be complete planes with the engine and tail feathers attached, JUST MISSING THE OUTBOARD WING PANELS. I'm needing left, right, forward and rear views. They don't have to be flyable planes, just complete. They don't even have to be the same airplane, four different ones will work. For that matter, they don't even need to be really nice pictures!

Also, should anybody have any close up pics of the vertical attach angles located on the outboard edge of the center section, bolted to the fwd spar.

I need these to complete loading certification for loading a T-6 on a C-17.

Please send me anything you have, either here or to my email mexicanbob at hotmail.com

Thanks!

Brad, I would not try to tie down a 6 using the spar attach points. How are you loading it ? is it on it's feet ? If so, I would use the towing points on the gear, the lifting tube on the tail cone, with extra tie downs on the engine mount, tail wheel, and main gear.

It's on its gear. I'm hoping not to using anything off the center section if I can avoid it. Unfortunately, I'm limited by the amount of restraint that I have to apply, the type of tiedown equipment I can use and the restrictions on restraint. Such as no more than 50% can go to the gear. Unfortunately, you can't get a good enough angle off of the engine mount to use. The tiedown tube and tow points are the primary locations I'm using but I'm probably gonna have to have more. All this nonsense is just to get the loading instructions approved.

Brad, if you tied to the attach point of the lower truss structure to the tail cone you should be ok there. On the wing center section I would not tie on to anything other than the landing gear.

Brad,

If you can convince Brian or John to pull the wings off their T-6s, I'll take the photos.

Until then, it's back to the top with this thread.

Bump.

Brad,
I've got some of Jeff's SNJ when we were working on it.
I'll post tonight. Might have a couple of Skeets hauling it down I-5.

Went through the pics I have on my hard drive, and here's what I could
find (hopefully one or more of them will be of use...).

Hey Bella, where did you get the sixth picture from the top. That is the airplane I have been building up for the last two years. It is a lot farther along now then it was in that picture. I'm just curious where the picture came from. I am sure the T-6 was pulled out when that picture was taken in order to get the Zero out (you know the secret one that is in Mojave). Hopefully that T-6 will be done this year then I have another one to start on.

Sorry, but I don't know where I got that pic (off the internet somewhere!).

It's one of about 1000 pictures of T-6s I have in various states of
disrepair and/or restoration (the old saying about how a picture
is worth a thousand words has helped me put my pile of SNJ parts
back together more than once!).
