Wow, thanks. The pic of the Vigilante in camo on that site is awesome.

Not exactly polka dots, but close.

I've had that photo around since the seventies, just waiting for a place to put it. I think Dana Bell had a write-up in Scale Modeler about this scheme, and I believe that is where the photo originated.

There are LOADS of Tiger schemes, thanks to the NATO Tiger Squadron meets.

Can't think of a Leopard, but you can have Jaguar...

Of course there aren't camouflage for disguise, but commemorative or promotional schemes.

The Luftwaffe also painted the underside of one wing black on some of thier Bf-110 nightfighters as a recognition aid for German AA gunners.

James, those old Sikorskys are so cool.

SAF, is that supposed to be camo or the spray bomb touch up job from Hades?

Another wild camo job I saw some time ago on a.net. Taiwanese Grumman S-2's painted blue and green camo with big shark mouths. Wild.

I saw a magazine feature (or maybe a recent book) on the NATO Tiger meets. Paint shops in many nations had mucho fun with that one!

Nope, that is an experimental paint scheme the USAF tried out in the late seventies. Here's another photo I found on one of my "miscellaneous aircraft" CDs of two Hogs at Nellis. Note that the base color is different on the two airplanes.

Another view of that dazzle Mustang

Image

Interesting .... found some forums where there was discussion on this plane, about the whole scheme being unknown. Known that upper surfaces were flat OD, but undersides unknown. As seen in the view above post, it was OD on top wing surfaces and top of fuselage, and in this view it can be seen that the dazzle extended under the wings and fuselage. Mystery solved, I guess.
