A-7E Along I-75 near Lake City, FL

Here are a couple of recent shots of the A-7E that is sitting near the end of the runway at a fly-in community south of Lake City, FL. The plane used to be on a stick, and was painted in false Blue Angel colors.

There is another A-7 on a pole a bit south of there at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, Ocala. The Aircraft is hard to see from the interstate as some of the museums buildings are blocking the view. It was in pretty good shape when I saw it last a few years ago. Have some pics of it somewhere. The Navy "gave" it to him to commemorate his drag racing an A-7 with onee of his dragsters

It was also one of mine, when I was making the same drive. Made it many times from the late 1960's until 2001. I told myself many times that I was going to get off and go look at it up close, but I never did, for one reason or another. Like the DC-7 that used to be at the Byron exit, I never did get off to get a look at that one, either. I am a charter member of the National Procrastinators Association.

Yes, that's it. The plane in my photos is in the same location and position as in your Locator views.
It used to be mounted on a pole, about 8-10 feet off the ground, if I remember correctly. That was when it was in ersatz Blue Angels colors. It was in the same location, I'm sure.
There's a sign off to the right of the aircraft that says Cannon Creek Airpark.
