Monday was a very special day. Thanks to the huge array of great things there are to do in Australia (and particularly Melbourne) on Australia Day, we were able to sample a free couple.

First stop was the RACV Australia Day Picnic and Federation Vehicle Display. What that means is something in the order of 500 cars, bikes and trucks of all kinds back to the earliest days. Lots of Americania of great- and no- tasdte, British metal and German, as well as a sprinkling of others.

Even after whittling it down I've got 300 or so pics worth sharing, :shock: so I'll post a few at a time mebbe.

First batch.

I saw the reflection of a '35 or '36 Ford in one photo. My mother had a '36 Ford in 1936 in high school.

No, no, they're on the right side, the right. That's because we drive on the left, which is also the right side. OK? :lol:

Someone asked me when I was driving in Canada how I felt about driving on the right, and I just looked at them, as I'd just been driving in Italy, France and the UK after leaving Australia. You just do it.

Conversely my most unpleasant experience was driving a borrowed European left hooker on single-carriageway rural UK roads and having to overtake. Not nice.

The yellow Ford Convertable was, I think, either 1935 or 1936. My mother had a black, 1936 five window coupe, with a rumble seat.
