I was reading Air Force Magazine Daily Report online, & came across a short article reminding us that it was 36 years ago yesterday, Feb. 12, 1973, that the Air Force began an eight-week airlift mission known as Operation Homecoming to repatriate 597 US prisoners of war from North Vietnam. The operation concluded on April 4, 1973.
I wish we could have brought em all home, NEVER FORGET THE UNACCOUNTED FOR POW'S/MIA'S.

Robbie

The NMUSAF has a great display about it with cool footage of the museum's C-141 landing loading up, and then taking off. THere were cameras inside as well, and it was silent until the pilot announced they were out of hostile air space. Then the plane errupted with cheers. The inside is signed by every POW it flew.

The signatures are still there? Now that's cool..especially since the Hanoi Taxi has been stretched and rebuilt since those days.

I was at the Lockheed plant when they rolled out the first stretch version.I think that was 74 or 5.Maybe the could pull the plug out and turn it back into the bird she was.Not like she will ever fly again.
