Pembroke Mk. 51 - K66B-4008 / N51963: Where is it?

Ryan, I flew that Pembroke, N51963 from Belgium to the USA in 1978. Rik Luytjes of Air America contracted me to ferry that aircraft and two other Pembrokes from Koksidje ( SP ) Belgium to Wilkes/Barre PA.

That would be Koksijde AB, at the time something like the Belgian AMARC. Ideal for aircraft preservation as it's located a few 100 feet from the north sea! Now the whole base is home to only 4 sea-king SAR helicopters. Only 1 or 2 are airworthy most of the time. Long live our defence budget!

Ryan, I just checked my logbooks ( more than 30 years ago ) and I see I made a mistake. I flew Pembroke N51973 and NOT N51963. I also flew N51962 and that had tricked my memory.

The guy in Denver would've been the Brit Richard Munslow, not sure of the number on the aircraft, but the plane was called Rainbow Chaser and was active at the Aspen airshow/season as recently as 1996....not sure where it is now or the whereabouts of Munslow....quite a character, tried to start a museum here in Greeley but it went nowhere....

There was a Pembroke that sat on the ramp on the south side of McCollum Airport (RYY) north of Atlanta for several years in the late 1990's. I don't have any pix and don't know what the reg was. I never saw it fly.

There is a Pembroke that has been sitting dead at Van Nuys for years just rotting into the ground. I noticed a couple of days ago that it is sitting in front of Pete Regina's hanger. Not sure what is going on but it looks like he may be working on it. I will stop by one of these days and find out what is going on.

Does anyone know how many warbirds were lost in the 1980s to drug runners in accidents or abandonment or torchings? I know that the C types were probably most prevalent but I am thinking of combat types like Bombers, Fighters and Patrol aircraft.
