That's not nearly as bad as I thought. My father and I are working on the fuselage for a new RV-4 as we speak. It's got the edge when it comes to top speed, but a VERY important factor is missing - that big nasty radial sitting out front! :) The RV is a tiny little thing too. We were contemplating building another RV after this one since our shop is already outfitted for it. Somewhere down the line, maybe it'll be possible to work a trade for a CJ or the like. I really like the Yak-52TW with the tail wheel conversion too. :)

Rob,
Why dont you put a small radial engine on the front of your RV? A Kinner or Warner maybe? It would give the RV a whole new look.

Hi Rob!

Did you ever think about doing one of these?
http://www.radialrocket.com/

I've been lookin at that site for awhile now, I wanted an RV4 until I saw this. Ahh well, I'll add it to the the list. I should be good to go as long as I live to be 643 years old. Maybe I can switch to Health Beer and Health Marlboros, that outta get me there.

It would be interesting to put a small radial on the nose of the little beast :) The RV-4 is so small though that a standard Lycoming already protrudes out each side of the cowling (under cowl fairings). Not sure if even the smallest of radials would fit on the plane and still match minimum HP needs without leaving me in worse off than an early Corsair pilot. ;) It would be interesting to look at though!

I'm pretty excited about the Radial Rocket. If I manage to make Oshkosh this year, I plan on giving it a thorough looking over. The only esthetic drawback on the plane is its spindly landing gear. A curved style like the RV would look even better, with retracts being the ideal setup for that fuselage design. It's big enough to have retracts, but the wings are pretty thin. Still, it looks like an amazing cross country plane!
