The March 2009 Desktop Calendars are now available from the Warbird Depot website; http://www.warbirddepot.com/desktop_calendars.asp

This month includes:

1. Lone Star Flight Museum’s North American B-25J Mitchell “Special Delivery”, being flown by Tom Gregory III and Doug Peoples, over Galveston, TX. Painted to commemorate the Doolittle Raiders, it honors the 80 brave men who flew 16 land-based B-25s off the USS Hornet in the first raid against the Japanese home islands.
2. Neal Melton flying his P-47D Thunderbolt "Hun Hunter XVI" over Douglas Lake during the Tennessee Museum of Aviation's Warbird Gathering in Sevierville, TN.
3. Bill Lewallen flying his beautifully restored Pratt & Whitney R-1830-94 powered Yakolev Yak-11 "Maniyak" in the Arizona sky during a Warbird Digest photo shoot.
4. The Cactus Air Force's North American OV-10A Bronco, in VMO-2 markings, being flown by Lee "Thumper" Griffin.
5. Air Canada Vickers 757 Viscount CF-THL c/n 272 taxiing for departure at Victoria B.C. on August 14, 1972.
6. The U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire call upon Coulson Flying Tankers’ big Martin Mars for help from Sprout Lake near Port Alberni, British Columbia. The “Hawaii Mars” carries up to 7,200 gallons of water, and can stay aloft for five hours while working. Arriving on June 29th at Lake Shasta with its own ground support, fuel and equipment trucks, and a spotting plane (a turbo-powered Cessna U206G), the seaplane tanker spent a week on the “Shu Lightning Complex” fires.
7. Flying over the Yolo County farmland, Ben Marsh leads with his Yak-52 while the aerobatic Panzl S-330 is flown by Allyson Parker Lauck, they both fly out of Solano County Airport (Nut Tree Airport).
8. John Hickman flying his Bucker Jungmeister N133JH during the 2008 Cactus Fly-In at Casa Grande, AZ. The Jungmeister was the 2008 Grand Champion. The 51st annual Cactus Fly-In will be held on March 6 & 7, 2009.
9. Dan Vance taking-off in the Hawker Sea Fury T.20 "September Pops" at the 2008 Reno National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV. This warbird is now owned by Rod Lewis and is based in San Antonio, TX.
10. Earl Hibler flying his Glasair II STD "Baby Doll" (race 40) and Craig Sherman in his Glasair III (race 4) duelling it out as they round pylon #2 at the 2008 Reno National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV.
11. On it's inaugural flight into the San Francisco Bay Area, Airship Ventures Zeppelin NT airship flies near Alcatraz Island, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Based in one of the historic hangars at Moffett Field, it is flown by British pilot Katherine Board. AirshipVentures.com currently sells scenic rides around the bay area.
12. Steven "Stevo" Hinton taking the clock in Daryl Bond's North American TF-51D Mustang "Lady Jo" during qualifying at the 2008 Reno National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV.

No wonder I'm .a day or two late everywhere I go! I missed the February calendar...

No question, I took the Mars! Almost as much work to keep airworthy as a Vulcan.
