Hello Folks:

Since I've been away for a couple weeks, sort of. I've noticed that several Wixers have shown an interest in Morotai that I reported back on. I'm glad I can contribute to the overall knowledge of warbirds existing in remote areas. I am also impressed on the enthusiasm of several of the Wixers.

On that note, in traveling abroad to remote areas of the world, I've noted that many of these folks who live out in the boondocks (natives)are a happier bunch than a lot of us "materialistic" Americans are. We tend to want one toy after another, so much so that we lose our own soul. We are not kind to others and even attack other people. I didn't see any of this behavior out in the boondocks.

Anyway, I've noted on this board that a few people have taken some things I've said regarding the FARs out of context. They have been quick to point a condemning finger, even after I've used various disclaimers such as "in my opinion", "In my own words", and "As far as I know". They choose to diliberately construe it as wrong with no regard to showing good leadership, and participate constructively in a discussion.

Again, they would rather abuse their knowledge base on the FARs in an attempt to tear people down rather than use it in a manner to support and uplift others.

To me this is comparable to a doctor who went to Med School just to use his knowledge to kill people. That is terrible and true, and I see it on this board all of the time. Let's change it, and not accept it.

I'm new to the board but this sounds refreshing for a Forum. I have come to take any comments on any board with a pinch of salt. Bravo, I say.

Chris:

With all due respect, you bring an awful lot of this on yourself. Smart aleck comments like "I knew I was right" are, quite frankly, rather irritating to people when in fact you were "kind of" right, but not totally in the instance I reference. The problem here, and the reason I went to a GREAT deal of trouble to post specific FAR's in another thread is that you will put something up, not be told it's wrong, and others will take that erroneous info as gospel. Or, as happened in the Spitfire thread in which I excerpted FAR's, you will argue with folks who have a better working knowledge of the FAR's than you do, and then you get petulant when the reg's are posted.

Since I think this post was directed at least partially at me, due to my knowledge of certain FAR's, I will also say this: I totally resent being characterized as being similar to a homicidal doctor. Frankly, I made, as did EVERY other poster I saw, a pretty serious effort to post FACTUAL info, not BS and old wives tales in response to questions and concerns. I'd like you to draw my attention to any posts where I have "torn someone down". Note that, in my never humble opinion, I do not consider a forthright "You are wrong and here's why" to be "tearing someone down". There have been some good points made here, by warbirddriver and others that folks (NOT just you) ought to be sure of what they say, especially if the context makes it appear as if it is "gospel".

For the record, if you or anyone else posts info that I know to be wrong, I will post what I know. I expect anyone else who sees me posting wrong info to do the same. I fail to see how that can possibly be construed as not "showing good leadership and participating constructively in a discussion"

You may want to modify your posting style, as I find it abrasive, grating, and overly juvenile.

Hi Jase:

I think you are being overly analytical on the subject, and reading too FAR (excuse the pun) into the FARs. Your correction to my post still appears biased as I don't see any evidence that I was wrong.
