The silver one had WW2 history. Served in India and Burma during that time.

[quote="BonesI had a hand in restoring one a few years ago. Those bicycle chains driving that whole system never left me with a good feeling...

...though they seemed to have worked just fine in this case. Looks like the meatservo failed miserably though. WOW.[/quote]

I worked on a C-90 King Air not long ago and it had a chain drive for the nose gear. Wonder if it is the same type as on the Staggerwing. Always loved Staggerwings. The first antique aircraft I ever saw were a pair if Staggerwings at Hampton Airfield, in NH. Before they got restored. I think one of them never did get restored.

This one is finally getting some attention since its been in storage since the mid 50's. My uncle is trying to salvage what he can from the engine after it broke a master rod on its last flight and made a off airport landing. He is excited as the engine looks like a 1st run engine from the factory.

Darned sorry to see this and I feel for the PDB pilot.
Can't recall which Magazine just did a profile on this beauty. AOPA?

N3N-3 Jeff (or anybody else ) let me know if you need a carb heat plenum for the engine on your Dad's plane.
Gulf Coast Wing wound up with one somehow or another.
I have been told it is the same as the Beech 18 set-up.
