What happened to all the old Air Tankers ?

Sat Mar 21, 2009 12:50 am

I was watching 'Always' on dvd which was made in 1989 and I wonder whether the A-26 and Catalina were still flying in that role or if they've been parked or restored ?

Anyone know ?

I guess all the air tankers for fire fighting would be mainly turbine powered 20 years later

Tanker 57 was sold to Bob Pond after the movie and put back to stock .It is at Palm Springs Air Museum, There is a picture on there web site.

The Cat is still around somewhere, the other A-26 was offered for sale last year and the C-119 is the one that I believe flew to Hagerstown, MD and is now part of the Museum there.
Someone else must have more specific info.
