Looks like an action packed show.

I havent been to this show (I dont feel like dealing with the crowd) but I like the fact that it is so close to NYC and exposes alot of people to aviation. 8)

yes.., it looks packed to hhell.

But you are correct, we do not get many opportunities up here to see this quality of a show.., which is why it is packed to hhell!

I'll be there. Been going to this show since 2006 and enjoy the fact that I don't need to worry about finding a place to stay!

I only go if there's an interesting warbird, like when they had the Lancaster, and I never go to the beach -- better to watch the planes stage out of Farmingdale. Don't see anything that would tempt me to go this year.

HUNDREDS of cars line the perimeter of Republic Airport that weekend... it's insane!

yah, but you are right...

anything has to beat that crowd at the beach!!!

What about walk-arounds? Will they let you tour the aircraft, some of the aircraft?

Thanks

Sorry, but the website has the bare minimum of info! and they want your a$$ at the beach spending money!

The warbirds stage out of the Airpower museum and there is some access to them. The least crowded day, if you can make it, is the Friday practice show. I don't think you can get very close to the jets. I would take the L.I.R.R. out there rather than drive.

At the beach, the sun is right in your face, and so are hundreds of thousands of people and a lot of sand. If you treat it as a day at the beach with something interesting going on in the sky, it's great. As an airshow, not so much.

That's putting it mildly. I've been going to this, my local show since it started in '04 and I try to avoid going to FRG. The beach is not bad! Just get there by 0900 for the 1030 start the flying time and you are fine. Stay away from the boardwalk and show center and your fine. Take a stroll to the west end of the beach and get away from a majority of the crowds. You will still be at the center of the action as it is such a broad crowd line.

At FRG unless you have a 12' ladder you can't see much of anything let alone take photos. Even if you can find a spot along the approach of 32, what if they switch runways to 1-19? You can't see anything from the 32 fence and forget about trying to move. You can go to the museum and see the warbirds up close as they come and go but thats about it. Unless they depart runway 1 then you can get some shots as they depart.

This year they have the Snowbirds who I have not seen since 1985. Also The Horsemen will have a 3 Mustang demo this year so I'm psyched about the show.
