Dan, Is that one of the Swiss(Eastern Fighters) built Yak 3's. Thanks, Rob

Rob

No it is an ex Egyptian AF Yak 11, same as the TFC example now at Chino for rebuild. initial conversion work was done in Russia.
Eastern Fighters haven't produced any Yak -3s to date.

you are not quite right! Eastern Fighters has just completed the first Yak-3U/R-2000 (Yak-3 with a P&W R-2000). Its' being loaded into a container right now and shipped to the US West coast thereafter.

We haven't produced any Allison Yak-3's yet.

Aer these from that batch of Yak-11's that was supposedly being reworked with American engines in Rumania? Warbirds Worldwide mentioned this several years ago, and then, nothing!

Thanks, I should have stipulated Allison powered ! We already have a piece on your new UPW in the upcoming Classic Wings..very nice job!
TJ, these are totally new aircraft and a totally different operation to that of the Capel Aviation mentioned in Warbirds Worldwide. If you want the full story on the Yak UPWs have a look at Classic Wings Issue 48.

Do you have any more photos of this Yak? I'd love some of it during construction.

A couple of pics of OFMC’s Yak, the first one is in its original form as a Yak11 (NX115N) and the second one is as it returned from Russia, on the flightline at Flying Legends 12th July 1997.

Some may not consider these a real fighter but we have one visit ocasionaly.
It will out perform out Kittyhawk and it must be up there with the Mustang.
For the price how can you go wrong.
Must be the best bang for your buck.

I gotta agree with Y11F on this one, like the radial up front better. The new build Yak-3U/R-2000 is a looker as well, can't wait to see one finished and flying.

Have to agree with Mick here we have two in Brisbane a 9 and a 3 and they would have to be the best bang for buck around and are no slouches in the air. In Australia though the guys that own them have a slightly casual approach to color schemes with the original 9 here still in natural metal and the 3 Mick speaks of still in white - be nice if they got decent color schemes !!!
