Well the best peice off a Warbird.

You don't see too many Spitfires sporting a Harvard/T6 empennage.

This Spitfire, now known to be SL633 of the RAF, was recovered from Burma to the US, sold on to the UK and is currently under restoration to flight at HFL Duxford.

The customer is a significant collector in the US, so you should see this flying by next year.

The tail unit ended up on eBay with just one bidder.

Having followed this part around the world...it now hangs in my workshop.

I have a complete P51 Mustang canopy, reportedly from a WIS ANG plane.

I have a gunsight that maybe off a RAAF Mustang but also could be from a Vampire.

Prop hub off a DC3
Steering wheel off a Fokker (not sure what model just has Fokker on it)
An oil tank out of a Bomber that is now a fuel tank in my Historic racecar
And the Merlin in my boat.
I was driving through Sydney a couple of weeks ago when I passed a furniture shop that had a large model plane in the window. I stopped and went in to find a whole pile of stuff hanging from the roof.
Some of the Items were.
Complete tail boom assembly off a Sea Venom, Complete B17 ball turret',
Lincoln Bomber cowl and spinner, flaps off a Corsair and Lightning, Two complete full size vintage gliders, RR Avon engine and a large radial plus lots of other stuff. Just amazing actually.

The best piece off of a warbird that I have is a small unidentifiable piece of C-54 45-543 that crashed at Stake House Fell, enroute to Burtonwood for an overhaul as part of the Berlin Airlift.

A contact in England who is involved in creating a memorial to that crash gained permission to access the crash site and as per my request, sent me a small piece of the airplane (It's part of an accessory section, but exactly where, I haven't figured out yet).

We are going to put it on display in the "Spirit" in memory and tribute to

I don't have much- a standard issue Luftwaffe O2 regulator gauge, an He 162 inspection panel with original paint, some hinge bits from a Bf 109 cowling- but the most significant piece in my small collection is a chunk of broken and scored plexiglas from the canopy of Heinrich Bartels' Bf 109G-10, recovered from his wrecksite in 1968 and given to me by Jerry Crandall several years ago.

I do not own any pieces off of a warbird unfortunately. I do however have a chunk of concrete from the runway at Halesworth used by the 56th Fighter Group sent to me by Buzz Took, one of the volunteers at the Halesworth Airfield Museum. I think I'd be in heaven if I could ever get my hands on a piece of a 56th P-47....

After seeing what great stuff some other folks have, I'm embarassed to admit how little I have. . .

Sitting here on my desk at work are two Wright radial engine pistons: one from the number 3 cylinder of the number 3 engine of B-17 Chuckie and one from an unknown cylinder of the number 2 engine of B-25 Pacific Prowler. I also have some assorted bits such as spark plugs, valve springs, etc.

I have a small accumulation of WW2 aircraft radio equipment, including five 7.0 - 9.1 mc command transmitters (Army BC-459A and Navy T-22/ARC5) and three BC-348 receivers (HF receivers used in large Army bomber and transport aircraft).

It ain't much, but it's sumpthin'. . .
