I'd say the silhouette is a dead give-away. P-38.

Yeah you don't really want to stick your neck out around here! You might do something really silly like mistake an F4F-3 for an FM-2!

I just received my 20 lashes for that mistake.

I think I need to go home and study up on them. I'd fail any pop quiz on the differences right now. Other than my name and who made which. :?

Is it on sale for $25?

Fri Apr 22, 2005 2:58 pm

Does it Glow in the dark?

All the flap over this gauge...

Fri Apr 22, 2005 5:56 pm

...pun intended...

Martin,
I am sure there is someone out there who didn't know what this was right away. Thanks much for posting the ID and photos- I didn't have one or I'd have put one up. Appreciate your contributions much.

Now for the "Top 10 Reasons" it's not for sale...

1. I haven't broken out my Geiger Counter yet.

2. It is not for sale, it is for trade...

3. I wouldn't want Harvard IV building a project around it... or welding it up into a T6 flap and landing gear gauge (Hey Harvard IV, look for the red dots on the wings)

4. It looks too cool.

5. It generated positive interest and I think people like looking at this stuff...

6. I'm awaiting Rob Rohr's comments on it...

7. I hope to own a P38 once I get the Duck finished... I might need it for a spare.

8. Might have been on Rex Barber's, Tommy McGuire's, Tony Levier's or Richard Bong's airplane...

9. I might never find another one...

10. The USN will not come to claim it...
