If, during the restoration you guys decided to replace the metal with the artwork, please let me know.
That would be a very interesting piece of memorabilia to own that is, if the price is within my means.
Sad to see her go, though.
Saludos,
Tulio

Sorry Tulio, that was one of the first things done in the restoration. It was stripped off and will be polished out to show the paint scheme she had during her service in either the Navy or Marines, or both! Mark is thinking about a split scheme Navy on one side and Marines on the other: Polished lower fuselage and white top. We have some beautiful color pix of her during this period. If anyone wants to see them I can send them to post here....
Tailwinds to all, Steve.

Mark plans on saving as much as he can from her. I think he is going to try to save the vertical and maybe an outer wing panel or so. Quite a daunting task! He's done really good to save what he has! She'll have a good home with Mark.

Nice job of saving the forward fuselage - it's going to make an excellent display.
Wish I could get one of the leftover pieces to display in my "man cave" - when I was growing up in the '70s I used to enjoy seeing the C-118s from VR-51 flying in and out of NAS Glenview. One of them, BuNo 131610, was written off in '73 after a gear collapse (supposedly someone raised the gear handle instead of the flap handle) and the carcass was left at the end of a taxiway:
yeah, I know, lousy Instamatic... Anyway, please let me know if there's anything you can let go cheeeeep!
