AT-10 Wichita Twin Engine Trainers?

Are there any examples of the Beech Aircraft AT-10 Wichita in existence today?

I've got the remains of an AT-10 that came out of Bruce A.A.F. stored for "one of these days". Another fuselage is in a BBQ joint in West Texas, and I think that is all that are out there. Went by NMUSAF and looked at the AT-10 after the Gathering, and it would be really nice to see one in the air. Surprising how many vets I have met that flew them ( an airplane very few people have heard of)

So you're the one with that project! I'd heard there was a second possibility out there but never knew who had it. Glad to hear you've got it, Ober. I have visited with a lot of bomber pilots and co-pilots who trained on the AT-10. One of the interesting machines that gets overlooked, much like the rest of the multi-engine trainers.

Back in the 90's i went to Murfeesbourgh, Tenn to chaeck out some hulks reported to be there. As usual the bulldozer had been there the week before. Couldn't find out anymore about them. Maybe someone from that area might know something.

The NMUSAF aicraft has come a long way. Here's a pic I took of it in the restoration hangar back in the mid '90s...



And here she is today...




I'm not sure if she was rebuilt "in house," or an outside contractor.

Another fuselage is in a BBQ joint in West Texas, and I think that is all that are ought there.

I found and photographed that aircraft about 10 years ago behind an abandoned auto repair garage in Abilene, Texas.
It was similar to what the NMUSAF started out with, justthe metal cabin.
I was told by "old timers" that some were bought by local ranchers who used to tow them behind tractors letting their kids play pilot.

It then appeared at the aviation momento-filled Harlow's BBQ, also in Abilene. It was there when I left Abilene in late 2004. In the 4 years since I was last there, it appears (from an internet search of the resturant's location) that the resturant has moved, I don't know if it took the airframe with them.

I would think...but don't know...that the local CAF Squadron would be able to tee you of its current status.

Thats' the one I was refering to. Last time I heard about it was the same time frame, don't know if the pictures I have are before or after the move. I would like to have it to add to my project, just need to make time and go up there and see if they will trade .

I think I have seen 4 or 5 other examples of the Pilots Operating Instructions for the AT-10 (01-90KB-1) other than my own. In them the Flying Characteristics ( section VI ) has only "To be issued when available" on an otherwise blank page. Section VIII ( Curves) has the same.
My copy was originally published on December 15th 1941 and revised on the 25th February 1943. I find it strange that a training aircraft had an incomplete FM for students to refer to for such a long time. Does anyone have a later copy with completed sections?

Here is the one in Abilene @ Harlows, the establishment is still in its original location. These were taken in Oct 07 so I presume its still there(more than likely) The very next time I head to the "big city" I'll stop and get an updated photo of it.

UMUSAF did a very nice job with that basket case! A few more years in the elements, it probably would have been gone!

Good start - couple trips to the lumber yard, and you're set! Any evidence of a data block/serial on the other side? Also, didn't the AT-10 have a restriction on diving speed due to accidents involving the windscreen caving in?

We have a complete AT10 panel in our museum. There was some discusion with NMUSAF but nothing ever came about.. I have a pic somewhere of it.
