VF-17 The Jolly Rogers. I have always thought that a " Band of Brothers" type of series based on Tom Blackburn's book would make an excellent story if the right people put it together. Their work to get the F4U accepted for Carrier use only to be bounced off the Bunker Hill and put out on Ondongo would make a great story line.
Like I said, if they could stay true to the real story it would be a good one.

I would like to see a movie treating the Low Level B-25 action in the South Pacific during WWII. Plenty of B-25s around to get the job done. No sappy love stories please--just heavy duty South Pacific action.
Another choice would be the 14 days leading up to the second Schweinfurt mission in October 1943. Some real heavy duty air combat during that time for the 8th AF. A lot of B-17s went down those first couple weeks of October 1943.

Bounced might be a strong word.
They traded spots with VF-18 only because of problems relating to supplying parts to what would have
been the only CV based Corsair squadron.
It maked sense logisicaly for them to be based with the Marine squadron and be supported by their
established supply system.

You are right Jack.

I sure as heck agree with the first two....well ALL of them really....but when we did something similar to this I mentioned the low level strafer B-25's of Kinney's 5th air force and of course ANYTHING with F4U's in it would be phenomenal...
Got any low level skip bombing strafer pics, Jack?

I have tons of VF-17 pics and some great mementos. When my step-dad was stationed at NAS Jax I was a regular at the Blackburn house on Chippawa Dr.

A real, true to life treatment of the Doolittle Raid. And keep ALL the Fn Baldwins AWAY from it!
Something on the level of "Band of Brothers" or one of the other reasonably true to life WWII movies. Covering all the training up, and the mission and afterwards, with an "American Graffiti" end montage, with a photo of each actor & the real men they portrayed, and a short end biography of each- perhaps by crew...

I would love to see a film on Adrian Warburton. Fascinating character. The BBC in the UK did a documentary on him a few years ago. Amazing stuff.
Also , Ken Adam woud be a fascinating subject, a German Jew who flew strike missions with the RAF over enemy territory and then became the guy who designed all the cool sets for the Bond movies. Wow!!

A Real account of the AVG Flying Tigers ! Face it their story dose not need the Hollywood Enbellishment as is the typical case . Get Tom Hanks & Ron Howard in the mix. It would be a Block buster no dought !

Jimmy Stewart, although I liked him as an actor and person, did not fit the part of Charles Lindbergh...
